ModCloth Stylish Surprise.

As I have said before I have lusted after a lot of the clothes on ModCloth for a long while but I am always wary as it is US based and I am afraid of the postage and the dreaded customs.  So when I heard that ModCloth a couple of times a year have a big sale selling their stock from $5.00 to $20.00 depending on what you are getting I was in.  The catch is you don't know what you are getting so for $20.00 you get a dress that originally retailed between $30.00 or $299.00, a bit like fashion lucky dip.  As I figured it could be sold on, that $20.00 is like around £13.50 and that I like a surprise I was in.

The only problem was I was bang in between sizes so I ordered a 2XL and a 3XL, which at $40.00 meant I incurred a hefty £13.44 customs charge, a rookie error and if I do this again I will order the dresses separately as the postage is less than customs.

So what did I get for my $40.00  I got a beautiful blue and green dress in the 2XL and a really pretty purple dress which Katt Cupcake also received in the 3XL which unfortunately I didn't have the boobs to fill out so it has been moved on to a better home.

The dress is really lovely in a sort of moleskin/velvet and has an exposed brass zip with a lovely angel wing as the zipper, being a bad blogger I have not got a photo of this.  I have gone for a vaguely 90's styling crossed with school girl chic on this dress as it reminds me of dresses from that period and catholic school girl plaid.

So I teamed it with my trusty denim jacket, really I must get some more jackets!  My school girl shoes that are pretty old from Topshop.  A milk carton handbag via Ebay.

And my Janine Basil Solar system headband.

I also wore my Urban Decay Catfight lipstick but it had worn off a bit by the time I took these pictures and my Dolly Cool Virgin Mary Kitty necklace.

OOTD - Did Cute Go Too Far?

I was meant to go to the Fat Clothing Swap today.  However, lack to money to get to London and extreme lethargy struck so I never got there.  Here's what I would have worn anyway, but I have to ask has my love of cute and Kitsch gone to far and I'm not sure I might look like cute threw up.  You decide?

I am wearing a New Look Inspire Bardot dress in a size 22, I am usually a 20 on top and this was a ok fit so I would size up, I bought this for a bargain tenner in the Asos sale.  I always loved Bardot tops in the 80's but somehow never had one so this is my chance.

Here's a picture of the dress without the cardie, I teamed it with my trusty Dolly Cool Zombie cocktail necklace.

Despite not being in love with the Voodoo Vixen plus size collection I did adore this cardie and although it was a bit expensive I bought it from Simply Be. I did mean to send it back but forgot! But is super cute with the cat applique and it makes me feel a bit sweater girl.

This is where cute may have threw up I then teamed it with a Milkshake bag bought in the New Look Sale for a bargainous £4.00, some Iron Fist shoes in Buns and Roses (look closely there are Bunnies!) and Hamburger earrings from Qu'tse in the Chinatown Market.   I was going for a Grease themed stranded at the drive in look but not too sure I got there.

So there you have it is more, more or perhaps less would have been better, personally I think either the shoes or the bag should have gone but you live and learn and fashion is about fun and experiments right?

Festive Fancies

Well if my old friend December hasn't sneaked up with it's festive cheer that somehow brightens the bright grey skies of winter, with all the twinkles and glitter stopping me from feeling like jumping into bed and not coming out till it is somehow more cheerful.

In the past I have eschewed the festive jumper, I remember my Mum buying me one in the 80's that I shunned thinking: "My god has she lost her freakin mind" that was hideously camp with a family putting up a tree embellished with beads for baubles and tinsel and little bits of gold material and ribbon to make the pressies, it was a festive monster that promtly went into my wardrobe unworn to fester in the back till a cull some years later.  Now I would kill to own it and love a bit of the old festive frippery and as the tree goes up here is the pick of my my fancies.

There was a time for me that the festive season meant some glittery diamante now I have to say I am all about the novelty.

The studs would be perfect for work as I can't do danglies there and are a bargaintastic £6.00 at accessorize.

I am seriously in love with the gold and red pressie from Blackheart Creatives at £18.00.

Obviously as a dog lover I am a pug fan and am quite charmed by these Xmas Pug earrings at a friendly £5.87 from Dolly Cool, they would be a perfect pressie for a pug lover.

Finally Hubster if your reading I think I need this Xmas Pud necklace I'm not sure if I can  feel festive without it.  Again this is from £15.00 from Blackheart Creatives.

Finally I am a sucker for the festive jumper as it is a easy way to feel festive and comfy at the same time.

The top two jumpers are from Tipsy Elves and whilst I love the jumpers the first reminding me a bit of the Jesus is my Homeboy T shirts of days gone by and the second of my Dad who I used to say looked a bit like a garden Gnome as he was short and beardy.  However at £38.00 if I am honest it is a lot to pay for a jumper with such a limited wear time each year.  Also not too sure on sizing so I would probably go mens to be certain that it would fit.

The second are more wallet friendly and are both again from Yours clothing they are cute rather than edgy but I really like both and either would be a welcome edition to my winter wardrobe.  Rudolph is £24.00 and the penguin one is £26.00.

Finally if anyone wants to spoil me or I want to spoil myself I could go all out with a Christmas Dress.

The dress with the Xmas beefcake is from Silly Old Seadog and at £95.00 it is a investment piece but refreshingly Silly Old Sea Dog do go up to a size 28 on this dress.

The second dress is from a favourite of mine Vampire Bunnies in the shop it only goes to a 18 but I know that Ellie does custom orders for a little more, this dress is £45.00.

So that is my festive round up what is making your heart sing Christmas Carols this year?

Curverella T shirt

Those who read Plus size Blogs will be more than familiar with Nicky Rockets and his plus size heroine Curverella.  I have 2 of these T shirts this one Invasion of the Killer Curves and the Do You Want Curves with That?  But for some reason I have never got round to having either of them photographed.  The tag line for the website is T shirts designed for and inspired by all the super curvy women in the world, and the T shirts are inspired by his wife the amazing Betty Pamper who wanted a curvy role model for her daughter.

With more than a nod to the retro B movies of the 50's i went with my hair in an old Dolly Cool Cherry print Bandanna and attempted a sort of quiff affair, I did the boring and obvious teaming with a pair of jeans and in fairness this is a very off to work sort of outfit for me.  

I certainly like these T shirts and always look forward to seeing new versions to see what adventures Curverella has next, as I love the fact there is a sexy, kick ass heroine who has adventures out there inspired by us the Plus Sized Girls.

OOTD - Hide The Mullet

This was not the outfit I had initially planned but my hair is such a mullet, which wasn't even a good look in the 80's for footballers and kids TV presenters that a bandanna was the only way I could go and as I have a limited choice of these my initial outfit just didn't match it.

It was a casual day I was trotting around then going into Swansea for a Benefit Bloggers event, so I slipped on a pink jumper which is surprisingly cool and my trusty high waisted, slim leg Jeans which are both from Simply Be.  I cannot rave about these Jeans enough they fit me well, the high waist means no hoiking them all day and I think the legs are nice and slim, my only complaint is they do fade a bit quickly.

I hid my rather hideous hair (Can't wit for my haircut in 2 weeks) which is all mullety in a cherry print Bandanna from Dolly Cool which made me feel faintly Rosie the Riveter esque, hence my silly pose.

Then went on my Mario mushroom earrings that I found in a shop called Qu'tse in the Chinatown Market on Charring Cross Road.  I love these earrings and I wear them as often as possible as they cheer me up and I just love Kawaii stuff.

Finally I popped my new Primark wedges on my trotters, I love these they are very comfy, have bows and cost £6.00.

I know this dress has been done to by half a million other fatshion Bloggers, but I do love this dress designed by the lovely Lauren at Pocket Rocket as Part of the Bloggers Collection last Summer.  In fact it is so good I bought it twice as my first one went a bit bobbly, so I found this one on E bay for a steal.  It's a size too big but that's ok.

I chose my ice cream dress to celebrate my new sweet wrapper coloured crop, as belts sort of scare me I teamed it with my new leopard print bow belt from Primark, I'm not too sure I would bother again as I am not convinced it work but I am trying to push my style.

As it is still winter I teamed it with my very old but much loved Monsoon cardigan, black leggings and some ballet flats.  As my other accessory I chose a Dolly Cool necklace with a Zombie Cocktail in it!  If you haven't ever heard of Dolly Cool do check out her website as she has lots of lovely bits and they are really reasonably priced.

What I love about this dress is I think it suits everyone as I have seen loads of bloggers wear it and they all look good, this is certainly my dress of choice when I feel a bit, meh as the ice creams and pink never fail to cheer me up and it is really comfy!  I teamed it with my new Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in Showy
